Die Szene wurde 2021 mit Mountainbike Edits fast schon überschwemmt. Cavlin Huth präsentierte gleich drei große Video Projekte, Red Bull veröffentlichte neue Edits und Commencal produzierte einen Kracher nach dem anderen. Da ist es gar nicht so leicht den Überblick zu behalten und deshalb gibts es hier ein paar der besten Videos aus 2021.
Calvin Huth – Arthur
Calvin Huth hatte dieses Jahr ziemlich viel zu tun. Der Kanadier gehört seit einigen Jahren zu den begehrtesten Filmern der Gravity Szene. Mit Arthur hat er sich sein Traum Projekt erfüllt. Zusammen mit einigen Freunden hat er wunderschöne Action-Aufnahmen eingefangen, Kabelkameras verwendet und wunderschöne Landschafts- und Tieraufnahmen gefilmt. Untermalt wird das ganze mit einem extrem passenden Soundtrack von Michael Kiwanuka. Unser Favorit-Edit in diesem Jahr.
Kilian Bron – Follow the Light
Wir hatten die Wahl zwischen Kilian Brons Switzerland Paradise und Follow the Light und haben uns für letzteres Entschieden. Follow the Light stellt die Schönheit der Landschaft, Kilians Fahrstil und die Verwendung von Licht in einem wunderschönen Video da. Dazu kommt die Kulisse von Kappadokien mit unzähligen Heißluftballons. Ein Must Watch!
Nach „Chasing Volcanoes“, „Our Tour de France“ und „Outdoor Synchrony“, begab sich Kilian Bron auf ein neues Abenteuer in die Türkei, ins Herz von Kappadokien! Zwei Wochen lang erkundete Kilian die einzigartige Landschaft der Region, auf der Suche nach der schmalsten Stelle, an der man die Steigeisen anlegen kann. Ein Projekt, das in einer ganz besonderen Atmosphäre stattfindet und … vom Licht bestimmt wird. Ein Sonnenuntergang über den Schluchten, beleuchtete Heißluftballons und die dämmrige Atmosphäre des Nahen Ostens … taucht mit Kilian Bron, Pierre Henni, Pierre Dupont und JB Liautard in dieses farbenfrohe Abenteuer.
Brandon Semenuk – Realm
Natürlich darf der Gott des Freerides in dieser Liste nicht fehlen. Brandon Semenuk hat mit Realm wiedermal ein Edit rausgehauen, dass die Eleganz seines Fahrstils und seine immense Trickkiste untermalt.
„Without the confines of a contest environment, Justin Wyper and myself had the opportunity to create our own Slopestyle haven and take some chances with this course build. Like any mountain bike trail or course, you work with the given terrain to make the best features imaginable. In this situation, we knew we wanted to create a course that would ride well top to bottom, but also offer up some opportunities for creativity along the way. We took our knowledge from previous builds and integrated some ‚wildcard‘ features with some more common slopestyle features to hopefully have a good balance of both.“ – Brandon Semenuk

Gee Atherton – The Knife Edge
Es ist immer ein seidener Faden Stürze und Verletzungen von Extremsportler zu glorifizieren. Denn Gee Atherton hat mit seinem Knife Edge Edit ein Statement abgeliefert, dass ihm fast das Leben gekostet hat. Die britische World Cup Legende zeigt uns in diesem Video eine extrem anspruchsvolle Strecke auf einem Bergkamm die ihm mehrere Monate Reha und eine World Cup Saison gekostet hat. Nichts für schwache Nerven!

Brage Vestavik – X Games Real MTB
Kaum ein Athlet hat sich in diesem Jahr so in die Herzen der Szene eingebrannt wie Brage Vestavik. Der Norweger ist für extreme Sprünge, Drops und Gaps bekannt und vereint diese in seinem X Games Edit. Diese Action ist so stumpf, dass man Vestavik fast schon als den letzten Wikinger bezeichnen kann.

Brett Rheeder – Continuum
Eine weitere Legende des Freeride Sports! Brett Rheeder hatte siche 2021 etwas von der Bildfläche und der Teilnahem an Contests zurückgezogen, versorgte uns aber zum Ende des Jahres mit einem wunderschönen Video. In Continuum geht es um unendlichen Flow. Ein extrem schönes Edit mit vertuschten Cuts und sehr viel Style!
Everything is connected. Each ride is an extension of the one before. Each reentry is a transition to the next launch. Each experience builds on one another toward a flow state of endless progression. Only the settings and perspectives change along this continuum. In this film by Brett Rheeder and Harrison Mendel, the sequence of individual movements are all linked together as a cohesive collection, with each maneuver unique yet forming a coherent visual journey across ever-changing landscapes by maintaining a locked perspective. Creating this visual trick of relentless flow and seamless transitions from one scene to the next was a technical challenge for both rider and cinematographer, and it required intense planning and dedication from the entire team to work through these problems.

Korbi is back! Der junge Allgäuer präsentiert mit Insomnia ein extrem stylischen Video, dass seinen Style mit schönen Aufnahmen kombiniert. Sein erstes großes Projekt hat er zusammen mit David Karg und Moritz Hübner auf seinen Homespots und im Bike Park Sölden gefilmt. Steeze, Flow und fette Aufnahmen in einem Video!
INSOMNIA features Korbinian „Korbi“ Engstler’s very own riding style and the visual experimentation of both filmmakers David Karg and Moritz Hübner in a piece of motion picture content that is rather unconventional for the bike industry and probably a bit too long for Instagram.
Girls gotta eat dirt
Delilah Cupp, Clare Hamilton und Avra Saslow zeigen uns in Girls gotta eat dirt wie viel Spaß Radfahren macht. Hier gibts Action auf den Trails, Bier, Bodenproben und drei sympathische Charaktere.

Mark Matthews – Blueprint
Mark Matthews nimmt uns mit in den kanadischen Wald und zeigt uns die Entstehung eines Trails. In Blue Print kombiniert Matthews zusammen mit seinen Freunden die Arbeit die in der Erschaffen einer neuen Line steckt und hält das ganze in spannenden Aufnahmen fest. Good Vibes und schöne Landschaft garantiert.
Blueprint started with a simple idea – to show sections of trail come to life before the viewer’s eyes. Once we broke ground here in Cumberland, BC, the abundance of good dirt was the ultimate inspiration to challenge ourselves to build something that pushed our creativity further than we had planned. The corners were just asking to get stacked bigger, faster, and smoother! We visualized, developed, and pushed the limits to create something special for all riders to enjoy: a hand-built, blue square level flow trail you’ll want to lap all day long.
Markus Eder – The Ultimate Run
Sorry. Es ist kein Mountainbike Video, aber The Ultimate Run war ein absolutes Action-Sports Highlight in 2021. Markus Eder geht auf seinen Ski über Grenzen hinaus und lässt dabei seine extremen Tricks und Sprünge viel zu leicht aussehen. The Ultimate Run macht Laune auf Wintersport und Hohe Berge!

Well, Markus Eder did just that in ‘The Ultimate Run’! This is Markus’ Opus Magnum, a medley of face shots, massive tricks and even bigger drops, which was documented by Innsbruck based production company Legs of Steel over the past two years. Markus has been visualizing the ultimate run since 2015. It may look like a simple undertaking in the final edit, but for arguably the most versatile skier on the planet, it meant taking his skill levels in every form and style of contemporary freeskiing to the next level.
